Official Opening of our Nursery!
Official Opening of our Nursery here at Wheatfield Primary School
We were delighted today to be joined by Clive Jones MP for Wokingham and Councillor Adrian Mather, Wokingham Borough Mayor, as well as parents, carers and and guests celebrating the official opening of our new nursery as part of Wheatfield Primary School.
Our nursery provides term-time nursery age provision for children aged two to four years. Government funded places, for both 15 and 30 hours, will also be available, with a range of options to suit parents needs and benefit families in Winnersh.
Clive Jones, MP said “I really, really enjoyed being here today and it is a very impressive set up at Wheatfield Primary School. It is clear all the children are enjoying their education and this is so important as this will help them learn more.”
Councillor Mather commented “It’s a fantastic dual celebration, firstly celebrating the school’s 10 year anniversary as well as the official nursery opening. The increased age provision will hopefully help support busy parents, balancing work and dropping and picking up their children. Wheatfield Primary School is driving to become a pillar of the local community.”
The Nursery is situated within the grounds of Wheatfield School, with wonderful large and expansive indoor and outdoor spaces. The children enjoy a well resourced, attractive setting purposely established to support learning and play in these crucial early years of education.
Wheatfield Primary School Nursery utilises a large space within the school building. Formerly a classroom, it has been entirely refurbished as a Nursery with the help of a grant from GLF Schools, which Wheatfield School belongs to. The new Nursery also benefits from the extensive grounds of the school with access to a MUGA ( Multi Use Games Area) and Outdoor Learning Facilities. Children attending the Nursery feel a part of the school leading to a seamless transition into school and the Reception class at the appropriate age.
Anna Freshwater and Sarah Evans, Co-Headteachers of Wheatfield Primary School and Nursery, said: “We are thrilled to celebrate the launch of our brand new nursery at Wheatfield, providing for the educational and developmental needs of our youngest children.”
“With a focus on providing a nurturing and enriching environment, we are committed to offering high-quality inclusive education and care that fosters a love for learning.”
“We are very proud of this latest nursery project, part of GLF’ s ongoing commitment to provide the very best start for every child in their Trust.”
Julian Drinkall, CEO of GLF Schools said that ‘At GLF Schools, we recognise the transformative impact that high-quality early education has on children and young people, and I’m delighted that we were able to expand the provision at Wheatfield Primary School to cater for 2- 4 year olds. I am certain the nursery will offer invaluable learning and experiences to children and families in Winnersh’.
